Kelewele (local snack)

Kelewele is a Ghanaian snack made from plantain. Personally, I love them hot and spicy. Kelewele can be served with other food or eaten as a snack with peanuts.

2 fingers of plantain

1-teaspoon ground ginger

1-teaspoon ground red pepper

1-teaspoon ground or grated ginger

1 medium size Onion

1 liter Vegetable oil for deep-frying

  1. peel the plantain fingers.
  2. Cut the plantain in half lengthwise and then slice about half an inch thick
  3. place the cut plantain in a mixing bowl, add red pepper, ginger, and salt to taste.
  4. Deep fry in hot oil at 160 C until golden brown.
  5. Serve hot

It is indeed a lovely dish for you and your friends. Stay tuned for more recipes. Yours truly Lady Elolo.
